Introduction to the Names of God

Where do we run in time of need?  When we have things pursuing, what do we do? When all strength has left us, where do we turn?

Where does the battle begin?  In our minds – that is why it is so critical that we train our minds for the battle.  It is essential to know Our God so that we can listen to Him when HE is speaking to us.

What is in a name?  In Biblical times it represented a person’s Character.

THUS to know God’s Name is to Know His Attributes, His Character and His Nature.

Where is the 1st mention to Call on His Name?

Genesis 4:26:  “Then (men) began to call upon the Name of the LORD.”

Genesis 12:8:  “There he built an altar to the LORD and called upon the Name of the LORD.”

Genesis 13:4:  “There Abram called on the Name of the LORD.”

Scriptures to ponder:

Isaiah 50:10:  “Who is among you that fears the LORD,…Let him TRUST in the Name of the LORD and RELY on his God.”

Proverbs 21:31:  “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, BUT the victory belongs to the LORD.

Psalm 27:  “The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?

Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear;

Though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident.”
