So today is Valentine’s Day and I am sure I come across as the kind of wife who has rose petals strewn all over the bed and floor for when my husband comes home from work….
Well what my dear husband came home to was me frantically changing out of my sweats, that I’d been wearing all day, so we can go out and the bed was strewn with something all-right – strewn with his clean underwear and socks that I was now sorting and folding.
It actually kinda made me giggle — which was better than how my day began —
Received some unsettling news that made me walk around the house and grit my teeth going “Grrrrr…” for quite a while — so a walk was definitely in order before I chipped one of my teeth off.
Wow! God can really do some great communicating on a walk —
He drew my focus back to – Him, of course.
To fix my eyes on the author and perfecter of my Faith.
To think about His Sovereignty – and that He has control over all situations.
To think about – Joseph.
Joseph from Genesis – how did he handle the difficult and unfair and daunting circumstances that came to him that he did not invite?
That is where God had me.
So as I walked to King and Country: “Fix My Eyes” — “it takes a soldier who knows his orders to walk the walk I’m supposed to walk…find faith in the battle, stand tall but above it all; Fix my eyes on You.”
“The things of earth are dimming in the light of Your glory and grace,
I’ll set my sights upon heaven – I’m fixing my eyes on You.”
And my thoughts reflected on Joseph – He was sold into slavery by his own family; we don’t read where he broadcasted about this wrong done to him. He was thrown into jail for a crime he didn’t commit, in fact in Genesis 39:9 he says “How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?”
He didn’t make constant complaints or threats, or write on the jail walls (ancient email) justifying his case and why everyone needed to agree with him.
He was a man who accepted where God had him and waited on The Most High God for the outcome, whatever that would be.
And the Word says Genesis 39:21: “But the LORD was with Joseph and extended kindness to him and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer.”
vs. 23 “The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph’s charge BECAUSE the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made to prosper.”
God is The Sovereign Ruler over all — He knows all, He sees all, and He is going to complete His plan. He never leaves anything undone, and He is not caught off guard by anything.
Will close today with this Scripture — May the Lord comfort your life with these words – He sure did comfort me today!
These are HIS Valentine Petals strewn before us, reminding us that He is Sovereign, He is Mighty, He is Powerful and He is to be Praised.
